Letter from Leadership

Season’s Greetings!

It is hard to believe it’s that time of year again. The busier you are, the quicker time flies. Edge is a great example of this.

There have been many changes at the cooperative during the past 12 months. Work with our federal policy initiatives, recruitment and training of member services staff, work on sustainability through the Dairy Strong Sustainability Alliance and the launch of our new name, Edge, are just a few.

This will go down as a very memorable and exciting year but our work is far from over. We have depressed milk prices and continue to face the erosion of premiums, volatile global markets and mounting demands from our customers, brands and retailers. Many of these issues are interrelated. We can’t increase price without greater demand, increased processer capacity, communication and member involvement. The Edge board of directors and staff are working diligently to make 2018 a better year for dairy.

I do have a request from all of you. Please forward to me names of farmers who you feel would be great members of Edge. Our work is important to the viability of the dairy community and having more voices is critical. So, if you have a dairy friend or neighbor that would be a good fit, let us know.
