COVID-19 alert – Vaccine eligibility opens for farm workers

Edge is working to make sure you have the most important information about COVID-19.

As of today, farm employees and owners are among the categories of Wisconsin residents eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Agricultural production workers are included in one of five categories of frontline essential workers in the state’s Phase 1B group. However, the state Department of Health Services says that based on the amount of vaccine doses available, it will likely take months for all newly eligible groups to get vaccinated. Ag workers can anticipate receiving the vaccine in April and May.

The other agriculture-related workers in the group include those who provide on-site support to multiple agricultural operations, such as livestock breeding and insemination providers, farm labor contractors, crop support providers and livestock veterinarians. Dairy plant employees are also eligible.

Where to get vaccinated:

  • Wisconsin has more than 1,200 eligible vaccinators, including doctors, pharmacies, community-based vaccination clinics, on-site vaccination clinics and local health departments. Click here to see a full list by location along with websites to make an appointment.

  • Walgreens is participating in a federal and state effort to provide free vaccinations. To sign up, visit the Walgreens website to create an account or call 1-800-Walgreens.

Scheduling:

You must schedule an appointment. At that time, ask the provider what material you may need to bring with you. This could include a work ID, a badge, a paycheck stub or a letter from your employer. President Biden has stated that all people in the U.S. regardless of their immigration status can access the vaccine.
