Edge adds leading dairy economist to board

Tuesday, April 13, 2021   (0 Comments)

From Brody Stapel, Edge president

Edge is constantly re-evaluating how we can best serve your interests when it comes to federal government policy.

This includes making sure we understand the economic impact of various proposed programs and regulations.

To provide extra support, Dr. Marin Bozic, one of the leading dairy economists in the country, is joining Edge’s board of directors as an adviser.

Dr. Bozic is an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota. His study areas include analysis of dairy policy, risk management and demand for dairy products. Dr. Bozic is also a co-creator of the USDA’s Dairy Revenue Protection.

Dr. Bozic will help the board think through the short- and long-term impacts of complex issues affecting our farmers and processors so that we form the strongest advocacy positions.

This will be particularly important as Congress begins to shape the 2023 farm bill during the next year. Dr. Bozic’s understanding of the Federal Milk Marketing Orders and producer price differentials is another benefit he’ll bring as an adviser.

In the end, it’s all about the added value Edge can deliver to our members.

Please let me know if you have questions.

In the meantime, I want to let you know that Dr. Bozic will be giving a presentation about FMMO and PPDs in a webinar at noon on April 13. This is being sponsored by the Dairy Business Association and the Minnesota Milk Producers Association. Register by clicking here.
