I am humbled to frequently be complimented on Edge’s ability to stay in front of the issues that truly matter to our members. While I would like to take credit for that, I can’t. An organization’s ability to perform is due to the passion of its members, the wisdom of its board and the ability of its staff to execute. Absent any of these elements, you will limit your ability to realize your vision.
Edge is lucky to represent the best members in the Midwest. You are always willing to get involved, share ideas and be present when it matters to most. You understand you only get out of an organization what you put into it. Our board, charged with setting the strategic direction of the cooperative and monitoring our progress, is an extension of our members. The directors are true “thought leaders” who understand the needs of our members and the broader dairy community. They are all very different but complement each other well.
The staff aspire to provide the daily energy and drive essential to meeting our goals. It’s like a long-distance relay where everyone in the cooperative has a vital role to play. There will be tough laps, hurdles, detours and setbacks but no turning back. That’s what defines Edge as a leader in the dairy community. And we’ve only just begun.
I encourage all of you to consider attending our annual Dairy Strong conference set for Jan. 19-20 in Madison, Wis. Registration is free for farmers if you register by Nov. 1. We have an exciting lineup of speakers and programs. Learn more at dairyforward.com/dairystrong.
